The 2027 Design Competition for Students

"Glass Generations"

What if glass became the thread that connects generations?
This edition celebrates glass as a symbol of transmission, sharing, and continuity. As Verallia marks its 200th anniversary, designers are invited to imagine glass packaging and objects capable of bringing generations together, telling a story, and keeping a legacy alive. Glass becomes both the witness of yesterday’s memories and the medium for tomorrow’s experiences.

A material that carries memory and emotion.
Present at family gatherings, celebrations, artisanal traditions, and in iconic products from our regions, glass accompanies the moments that leave a lasting mark on our lives. Entries should draw inspiration from these moments of transmission to create objects that evoke memories, sharing, and heritage. Each project tells a story, showcases expertise, and conveys an emotion passed down from one generation to the next.

Creating new connections in a changing world.
At a time when lifestyles are evolving and interactions are becoming increasingly digital, the need to come together remains essential. Through its uses, forms, and the experiences it enables, glass can become a powerful connector between people. Designers are invited to reinvent moments of conviviality and sharing that bring grandchildren, parents, and grandparents together around meaningful experiences.

Glass, a link between generations is therefore an invitation to design differently: to see design as a bridge between past and future, between heritage and innovation, between those who pass on their knowledge… and those who will shape tomorrow.

Honors

A unique competition to imagine the glass of tomorrow!

For the 18th edition of the Verallia Design Awards, categories are being replaced by a single challenge centred on the theme “Glass Generations”. As Verallia celebrates its 200th anniversary, participants are invited to design projects that demonstrate glass’s ability to create connections, convey stories, and bring generations together. Whether through a bottle, a jar, an innovative packaging concept, or the reinterpretation of an existing use, each creation should illustrate how glass can become a true vehicle for transmission, sharing, and connection.

Projects may address all of Verallia’s markets: wine, spirits, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and food. The objective is to imagine solutions that combine heritage and innovation, while meeting the expectations of today’s and tomorrow’s consumers. Beyond creativity, proposals will be evaluated on their relevance, innovative character, and potential for industrialisation.

Finally, among the finalist projects, the Vauxrot Heritage Special Prize will recognise the creation that best embodies the notions of memory, transmission, and heritage, in tribute to the historic Vauxrot site, which is also celebrating its 200th anniversary.
