And after ?
The contest
Projects pre-selected internally are reviewed by our jury, made up of designers and Verallia customers. Occasionally, a customer may fall in love with a project (winner or not), as was the case with Mélitine and Leslie.
It can happen after the awards ceremony! We continue to present projects to customers throughout the year.
Once the awards ceremony is over and the students have been rewarded, the customer asks us to launch an industrial feasibility study.
Definition of the product
Based on the project selected by the customer, Verallia’s Design Office develops a glass plan useful for the product’s future production. The customer, the design office and the student work together to combine design and industrial feasibility without changing the spirit of the project.
A visit to the design office is essential to transform the student designer’s original concept into a product that can be produced under the right conditions.
Once the product’s glass plan has been validated – possibly with the help of 3D representations and mock-ups – a glass test is carried out directly on the factory line.
Glass test(s)
From the glass drawing, test molds are ordered to carry out a glass test directly on the line. This allows us to check the product’s demolding and production speed. The student is invited to attend the first glass test in the factory. Several glass tests may be required before final production.
For some items, glass tests are more or less numerous. We did about ten for Mélitine’s “Soirée à rosé” and only two for Leslie’s “Serac”! It all depends!
Once the glass test has been validated by the customer, production can begin.
Production
The production launch can begin! This takes more or less time, depending on the quantities requested by the customer and the factory’s production schedule.
The production launch is the concrete step and the culmination of the student’s project. He will have the opportunity to be present at the first production run in the factory, as Leslie was able to do in Albi.
Finally, the production is sent to the customer for bottling in his factory, and the student may also be invited to attend this stage.
Commercialization
Once the bottles have been produced and filled by the customer, they are ready to be marketed. It is the customer who manages this stage, according to the sales strategy established for his product.
The student can now see his or her bottle (or jar) on the shelves of supermarkets and restaurants in France and abroad!
