The 2025 design competition for students
"Funky Glass"
“Funky Glass: Redefining Aesthetics for a Sparkling Experience”
Dare to be original! Dive into a world where glass packaging overturns convention. Whether it’s vibrant colors for the Decoration Award or bold, unexpected shapes for the Glass Award, this edition invites designers to unleash their creativity. For the Glass Award, propose extraordinary designs in white glass, playing with the shape and texture of the bottle to sublimate the purity of the material. As for the Decoration Award, explore the wealth of colorful and playful decorations to transform your bottles into truly funky works of art. Because who says packaging can’t be as attractive as the product it contains?
This edition celebrates responsible innovation! With Verallia’s first 100% electric oven, we invite designers to explore new ways of combining creativity, bold aesthetics and environmental commitment.
Focus of This Edition: The Electric Furnace in Cognac
This year, the Verallia Design Awards are spotlighting the Cognac site, which will be the first in the world and within the Group to produce glass food packaging using a new 100% electric furnace technology. This state-of-the-art furnace allows for a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions, making it environmentally friendly.
However, it can only produce white glass bottles. This limitation also presents a unique opportunity for you to showcase your creativity by playing with the transparency and purity of white glass.
For this edition, design glass bottles that fully leverage this new technology while highlighting its innovative nature.
Two Participation Categories
Two categories, two creative approaches!
For the Glass Award, the technical constraint for this edition is that all creations must be designed in white glass, due to the theme centered on the inauguration of the 100% electric furnace. But the challenge remains open for the bottle design itself to be bold and out of the ordinary. Unleash your creativity to imagine unique shapes and textures that will make white glass a spectacular and surprising element!
As for the Decoration Award, it’s all about exploring the full vibrancy of color. Here, decors must stand out with vibrant hues and original patterns. This is your chance to inject a funky style into your creations, and push back the boundaries of traditional packaging with designs as attractive as the product they protect.
