On May 23, 2024, the Verallia offices at La Défense were the setting for an exceptional event: the jury deliberation of the Verallia Design Awards 2024. This event brought together clients, journalists, and the mentor designers from Döppel Studio for a day rich in exchanges and creativity. At the end of the day, five winners were carefully selected, representing the best in glass design and innovation.

Location and Event Proceedings

The event took place on the 35th floor of the Carpe Diem Tower in La Défense, offering a panoramic view of Paris, conducive to inspiration and reflection.

The Role of Döppel Studio

Lionel Dinis-Salazar and Jonathan Omar, leading figures in contemporary design, played a crucial role in this event. Graduates of the École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD) and the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR) in Strasbourg, respectively, they explore the intersections of design, scenography, and artistic installation. Their unique vision guided the students throughout the creative process. They also hosted an interactive webinar, allowing students to ask questions and learn more about the career paths and challenges of being a designer. Additionally, during the deliberation, they had the opportunity to award their own prize, the Sponsors’ Favorite, for a project of their choice. They are also responsible for designing and crafting the trophies that will be presented during the awards ceremony.d

Selection Process

The selection of the winners was conducted in several stages. First, the projects were reviewed and sorted internally by Verallia’s marketing team. Then, the jury members and all Verallia employees voted to determine the finalists from the submitted projects. These finalists were presented to the jury during the deliberation.

The jury, composed of distinguished professionals from various sectors, deliberated to choose the five winners from the finalists. Among the jury members were Jean-Michel Vilpoux, Château de Pichon Comtesse, Marianne Fabre-Lanvin from Grand Bourry (Souleil), Julien Bodet from Courvoisier, Alix Dambrine from Lesieur, Alexis Chaudeur from Pernod Ricard, Jean-Pascal Martin-Festa from Rémy Cointreau, Guillaume Dierickx from AdVini, Quentin Paille from Emballage Magazine, Thomas Gueller from V&S News as well as the mentors Lionel Dinis-Salazar and Jonathan Omar.

However, One Last Winner Remains to Be Decided

For this final selection, Verallia has decided to involve its employees once again, giving them the opportunity to vote for their favorite project among the remaining ones. For two weeks, posters will be displayed in all offices and factories, presenting the finalist projects with QR codes to facilitate voting. This initiative even allows employees without email addresses to participate, ensuring maximum inclusion.

Next Steps and Award Ceremony

The next major event is scheduled for June 28, 2024, for the award ceremony. This will be the occasion to unveil the final winners and celebrate the talents shaping the future of glass design. The trophies, designed and crafted by Döppel Studio, will be presented to the winners during this ceremony.

We warmly thank all the participants, jury members, and our sponsor designers for their commitment and creativity. Stay tuned to discover the grand winners of the Verallia Design Awards 2024 on June 28!
