The circular economy aims to reduce waste and maximize resource use. At Verallia, we apply this model by reusing, recycling, and reducing our environmental impact at every stage of glass packaging production. Discover our concrete actions for a more sustainable future.
Optimizing resources for a greener future.
The circular economy is a model that seeks to reduce waste and maximize resource use by reusing and recycling materials. Unlike the traditional “extract, produce, dispose” model, the circular economy aims to give products a second life, particularly through the principles of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
Reducing means decreasing the consumption of natural resources and limiting the environmental impact of production. At Verallia, this involves eco-designing glass packaging, thereby reducing water consumption and waste.
Reusing extends the life of products. Verallia is currently working on reusing glass bottles and jars to limit the production of new products and reduce waste.
Finally, recycling is essential to give glass a second life. Verallia recycles glass to manufacture new products, and in 2023, more than 50% of the glass used in its production came from recycling.
These actions contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly responsible water management (SDG 6), responsible economic growth (SDG 8), responsible production and consumption (SDG 12), and climate action (SDG 13). In summary, Verallia makes the circular economy a reality while preserving the environment for future generations.
Why is the circular economy important?
The circular economy is a topic that concerns all of us, especially the younger generations who are increasingly aware of ecological issues. By participating in the Verallia Design Awards, you become not only actors of innovative design but also ambassadors of a more sustainable economy. The design of the future, particularly in packaging, plays a crucial role in transforming industrial sectors and preserving resources.
The future is circular.
At Verallia, we believe that the future of production and design lies in the circular economy. By integrating this approach into our practices, we help reduce our environmental impact while innovating in the design and manufacturing of our products. You too, as students and future designers, have a key role to play in this transformation. With creative and responsible projects, you have the opportunity to shape a more sustainable future.
